It's a big event when the Rotary's District Governor comes to the Borderville club, but no one will forget when Charles Hollenworth visited the town: instead of talking to his fellow Rotarians, he is discovered having been shot in the head in his locked motel room.
Was it suicide? If so, why had he read only part way through the perfectly good detective story at his bedside? Some members of the club decide it is time to bring in the talents of Harriet Bushrow.
The detective for The Famous DAR Murder Mystery does indeed take on the task and heads for North Carolina. There she uncovers Charles Hollenworth's past and a number of people who would want him gone. But why would any of them get rid of him in Borderville?
